The Classic Turkish Van Cat Association was formed in July 1993 by a number of dedicated and experienced Turkish Van Cat Breeders and exhibitors, for the purpose of preserving, protecting, and promoting the true Turkish Van Cat. We became affiliated to the GCCF in October 1996. The aims and objectives of the association also include safeguarding the interests, purity, and welfare of the Turkish Van Cat breed, and providing support, encouragement, and advice to all owners of Turkish Van Cats, worldwide.
A large number of members enjoy showing their Turkish Vans at the many cat shows around the country. The Association is always willing to help members promote the breed in this manner, and can offer advice on how to groom your Turkish Van Cat and obtain the necessary equipment. For those who wish to breed Turks the association can offer a wealth of experience, our members having raised such successes as Supreme UK Grand Premier Akdamar Bazisey Mahsus, winning the Supreme Exhibit in both 1995 and 1996. Visit our Members' page for links to our members' sites where you can find other success stories. Our fundraising is not just for our own rescue operations, but also benefits other cat charities. We adopt a different animal charity each year, and also offer free space in our club magazine for animal welfare organisations. We have our own small rescue sanctuary, the Vanessa Homes, which over the past few years has been instrumental in the rescue and rehoming of numerous Turkish Vans, sometimes with their other feline companions as well. We feel that it is imperative to keep them together wherever possible. See our welfare page for further details on our rescue operations. The CTVCA has a club stall at several shows throughout the year, and you will also find us represented at the National Cat Club Show in the 'World of Cats' section. So why not pay us a visit! If you are interested in buying a Turkish Van, visit our Kittens page, or take a look at our list of breeders. Alternatively, for information on the availability of kittens please contact our kitten registrar, who may also be able to provide you with details of older kittens or young adults that are available.
