I just wanted to stop by to view more information on Turkish Vans. My cat, Emily, is a Van, although she has no papers, since she was from an animal "rescue" organization. However, learning more about Vans has helped me to appreciate my cat, and I'm always interested in learning more about this fascinating breed.

I have a 6 month old female Turkish Van which was a birthday present. Tasi as we have called her has fallen in love with 2 of my Maine Coons (I have 8 cats altogether including Tasi). Tasi likes nothing better than waiting until my only male Maine Coon, Indi falls asleep and then she curls up on him (Indi by the way weighs 2 stone and is larger than a small poodle. My cats family consists of Tasi (turkish van) Indi, Koty, Carrie, Missi, Carly (Maine Coons) Lucy and Jodie (normal domestic rescue cats) I love them all to bits!

I've also been adopted by a Turkish Van. Her name is Miss Kitty Van Chaney. She came to me December 1995, and she has been a joy to me. I think she is the most beautiful cat, and has the most royal attitude, you would think she was Queen of the World, I suppose she is mine.

Hello fellow Van cat lovers! I already put a message in this guestbook in early December, but, mysteriously, it has totally vanished. I hope this one fares better. I have a two-year-old Turkish cat, Christabel, a lovable fiend, of course, very lively, demanding and intelligent. We also have a Birman of about the same age, Leonardo, and decided to produce their kittens, resulting in beautiful, silky young cats with very bushy tails. One red and white, Michelangelo, two tortoiseshell and white, Leonora and Aphrodite. I hope, at some time, to mate Christabel with another Turkish cat, though I don't suppose I will keep those kittens. Five cats is enough Stella Stocker

I have had the fortune of finding a Turkish Van wandering the streets and he has been, for sixteen years, a delight. He is still in good health and I expect to be blessed with his presence for many more years. I was wondering if you know of any rescue home for Vans in the United States?

I found the site very informative. After seeing a TV program a few years ago which briefly featured the Turkish Van I was impressed with their unusual and endearing personalities and decided then to one day have one (or two) of my own when Im in a position to dedicate the time to them they deserve.

Really enjoyed the web site. I've been trying to find an account written by Laura Lushington about bring the Vans to England. One of our Vans is sleeping in the bookcase, while the other one is purring very loudly as I write this. They are real treasures!

I am having some trouble finding information about the personality and temperament of the Turkish Van. When our cat eventually dies, I'd like to purchase two females whose appearance would not qualify them as show cats and have them spayed at the first opportunity. My wife, however, is very concerned about making sure that we get only nice cats, since we've had a bad experience with a stray who was mean. If any of you would email me, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you for your site. --Bryan
