HELLO ALL, I JUST LOVE THIS WEBSITE ! A UPDATE ON OUR "PEANUT" RESCUED FROM THE HUMANE SOCIETY. THIS GUY IS A JOY! HE IS SO FUNNY, VERY, VERY NOSEY. CAN NOT KEEP HIM PLAYING IN THE TOILET. THOUGHT I HAD THE PLAYING IN THE TOILET PROBLEM SOLVED, BUT ALAS, PEANUT NOW KNOWS HOW TO LIFT THE LID !! BEGS BETTER THAN ANY DOG I'VE EVER SEEN, AND WILL NOT LEAVE YOU ALONE UNTIL HE GETS A TASTE OF WHATEVER YOUR EATING. MY HUSBAND IS STATIONED IN CUBA AND I HAVE SENT HIM ROLLS AND ROLLS OF PICTURES OF PEANUT, PLAYING IN THE TOILET, BUBBLE BATHING, AND SITTING AT THE HEAD OF THE TABLE LIKE IT'S HIS RIGHTFUL SPOT. THIS FURRY NOSEY GUY IS THE LOVE OF BOTH MY HUSBAND AND MYSELF. JOSIE AND HER PUSSYCAT "PEANUT"

I just discovered your website and have totally enjoyed it. The guestbook entries are so much like my story. We did not know we had a T.V. until I described her one day to someone who obviously knows cat breeds. Our family truly was blessed one day when a woman stopped by our house. We lived at that time only a couple of blocks from our local rescue society. She was in tears, but said she had to give up her kitty and wanted to know the directions to the shelter. Only my husband was home at the time. One look at "Sierra" and he took her in. We have been blessed since then. Sierra has attached herself to my daughter and misses her dearly when she's gone even for short periods. She may not be a purebred, but she exhibits all the qualities of the breed. We thought she just had unusual markings, but she has the exact markings of the breed. And she "joins" my daughter for a shower all the time.We love her dearly and and would have another T.V. if they were easily available. (Although, I am very glad we rescued her from going to a shelter.)

Love your site! Your comments about the vans are SO true!!! I love the headbutts! We have two turkish vans. I was given one from a breeder who had to go into hospital because he wouldn't be ablt to look after her and she was pregnant. She had three kittens and we kept one, i have the others away to good homes! We just love them to death! Have you noticed how their mouths stay open when they sniff something!!! The first time it happened the mother sniffed the kittens backside and had her mouth open as if to say PHEWWW!!!!!!! We laughed and laughed!!! they are such gorgeous creatures! ..deb..formally england..now australia

we have a cat which seems very T.V like.Coat and markings are the same. She loves the bathroom tap, follows us around, especially in the garden. She's very bold where strangers are concerned, and will sit in the middle of the room watching them, while growling quietly! She loves our dogs, and runs behind them hitting them on the bum with her front paws! Very comical! We've had her since a kitten and love her v.much. If she is what a T.V is like, I'd love to have one!

I'm interested in getting a decent cat and the Turkish Van seems an ideal companion for myself & my partner. My main question is can this breed cope happily alone? being an only cat? as we'd like a cat, but only one cat. Thanks

Our almost-4-year-old daughter, Robyn, desparately wanted a cat. We are "dog" people with no desire for a cat, at least we thought! We adopted our 8-mo old little boy, Kitty Joe, from an animal rescue group. We just thought his personality and markings were great. He is so personable, lovable, cuddly, playful, tolerant, and on and on. Much to our surprise, he's a Turkish Van. I am completely crazy over him as are my daughter and even my husband who really didn't want a cat! Kitty Joe and our chocolate lab, Mocha, get along and share the foot of the bed together at night! Thanks for your informative site! Mary Beth Jackson

Hi We have seven beautiful Van cats, and live near Glasgow in Scotland. We are looking for a Turkish Van stud to sire kittens with our lovely girl Opal. Are there any studs within easy travelling distance of Scotland? If so please get in touch. You can see photos of some of our cats on our webpage Regards

Just to say that I have Arthur, the wonderful Turk who enjoys a swim in the Marina, adjacent to my apartment. He was blown off the sea-wal1 into the sea one stormy night and SWAM to a nearby pontoon and sheltered there for 12 hours until he was rescued. His cries attracted onlookers, who simply could not imagine a CAT out in the water! Since then I have to watch him closely, as he is definitely drawn to the water's edge, particularily if the seagulls are around! I love him to bits and I know he loves me too - I am his special person and he is my special Turk, the brave and beautiful Arthur !!

We've been told our cat looks like a Turkish Van. He's very loving, likes to be around people, and is crazy about water. If anyone can help us confirm whether "Van" has Turkish Van in him we'd appreciate hearing from you.

I have had a Van since Aug, 2002, and love her. Independent, but very loving. She doesn't like to be held, but likes to snuggle on the bed. This is my first Van - and I plan to adopt many more. She has a great attitude - loves to be admired. Ahe is white and yellow/orange on the head and tail - and, unfortunately, a blotch on her back. Gets along great with my other cats - although is now asseting herself as Alphacat. Would like to show Vans at some point, but not now. Can't afford the quality Vans.

We still have our first Turkish Van, Zippy (breed name Bootez Felicia) - and she is a real character. Our second Turksih Van, Mojo (breed name Advenlo Shan) very sadly died of cancer last year at the age of 3. I love the breed and am happy to have found a web site dedicated to them.

While traveling to do a show in Miami near Phoenix in Arizona USA we picked up a stray white kitten. April 2002. Thw kitten probably born around March 1st was pure white except for markings on her forhead which disappeared. My wife is sure she is a Turkish Van. Her eyes are gold the left is right is darker. Loves water etc. She was a beautiful addition to the other 2 girls and boy we already had.
