News from the 2001 AGM

The 2001 AGM was held at St Marks Church Hall, Chadwell Heath, Essex, on the 8th April 2001. Attendance was low this year but it proved to be an interesting and enjoyable event (apart from the hard seats!). Our thanks to everyone who contributed to the food and washing up!

Of particular importance to our breed was a vote on a new proposal for incorporating the white Van Kedi into the breeding policy. The proposal was to allow the offspring of two van-patterned cats, one or both of whose parents were Van Kedi, to be registered as Turkish Vans. The very positive response from those members present was appreciated, and allows the CTVCA committee to carry the proposal forward to the Breed Advisory Committee.

This year's photo competition was once again very successful, raising over Ł56. Our thanks go to Eleanor Cooper for judging the event, and you can see her choice of winners opposite.

As is traditional at the club AGM, two raffles were held, one to support the club's welfare activites and another in aid of a guest cat welfare charity. This year the chosen guest charity was the Last Post Cat Sanctuary for which Ł26 was raised and gratefully accepted. The Last Post Cat Sanctuary provides a home for elderly cats to live our the rest of their lives in peace, with all the love and attention that they deserve. Our best wishes go out to them.

As usual the club table proved very popular, thanks to the hard efforts of Lois (and Peter) Miles whose sewing machine had clearly been working overtime! Proceeds for the day amounted to Ł161.70 which will go towards our welfare and rescue operations.

One of the highlights of the meeting was the annual presentation of club trophies to successful breeders and exhibitors. Click here to view this year's well-deserved winners.
